Advocating Change
Although one would like to think otherwise, Massachusetts has the 6th largest homeless population in the US, according to the USICH. 18,471 homeless as of 2019, and in the light of current events, these numbers are only rising.
In order to combat this, a group of students at the Acton-Boxborough Regional Highschool put their efforts together to form Blessing Bags Boston. With a wide verity of ages backing the organization up, our board members and volunteers work tirelessly every day working on ways to help our unfortunate.
Currently, we are organizing multiple food and good drives, contacting multiple shelters and food pantries to find out how to better help the homeless, spreading awareness, and donating many goods from hygiene products to canned goods.
On the long run, we plan to expand beyond just our Acton-Boxborough location and open locations all over Massachusetts and eventually, the US. Although we are starting small, we plan to help at least 500 homeless people by the end of 2020.
